Directing in the virtual world

I recently had the privilege of directing Iceland’s first-ever live virtual sports production, a major milestone for the industry in our region. With the incredible support of Pixotope and a small but dedicated team, we designed and built a fully operational virtual studio from the ground up in just three months. This ambitious project required a good understanding of broadcast workflows, live production dynamics, and virtual production technology as well as the flexibility to adapt and solve challenges on the fly.

One of my proudest jobs as a director

One of the most rewarding parts of the process was working closely with our set designer and virtual graphic designer in the lead-up to the tournament. From day one, we aligned on a shared vision: to create a visually striking, highly functional environment that felt dynamic, editorially relevant, and uniquely Icelandic. We held frequent creative sessions to explore how the virtual space could complement the tone and pacing of Stofan, our flagship sports analysis show.
